Photographs on Canvas by Linda McCord

My photographs catch the adventure and wonder of my travels. Not only do they pin point a moment in time, they always reflect a mood and capture some of what I am feeling.

I have chosen a few of my favorite photographs to enlarge and print on canvas. I then highlighted areas of the work with hand painted accents. The effect attained on the larger 32 by 48 canvas pieces is stunning.

These accented photographs have been on display at Ronden Art Gallery in Oshawa, Ontario. I have now decided to show my work at a few of the summer art shows around southern Ontario such as the Windsor Art in the Park show in June and Kempenfest in Barrie.

Please journey with me through North America and Asia:

Oak Alley – 32 x 48

A canopy of majestic oaks filters the hot Louisiana sun through its 300-year old intertwined branches. Sipping a Mint Julep on the balcony of the plantation house provides this view made famous by such movies as ‘Interview with a Vampire’ and ‘Gone with the Wind’.

Winter Storage - 32 x 48

Now this is Canadian. Where else but the hearty north can you find a red canoe hiding under a blanket of snow waiting patiently for the spring thaw?

Winter Sunset – 32 x 48

An impromptu winter drive to the cottage caught this stunning sunset viewed across a snow covered field.

Sentry over Paris – 32 x 48 and 20 x 24

This is worth the climb. High over Paris upon Notre Dame’s parapet this gargoyle holds court over the city from his gothic perch.

Torii Gates I – 32 x 48

A Torii Gate is the traditional entrance to a Japanese shinto shrine. The Fushimi-Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto is the site of hundreds of red Torii lining the wooded slopes of Mount Inari. The path of the gates curving off into the distance is inviting and I believe it will welcome guests into our homes with the same respect as guests to this shrine.
