"I believe that when an artist paints, the soul is revealed. In each of my paintings, I see a reflection of my life's journey."

Maureen Dorinda

Maureen Dorinda is a recognized fine artist whose work over the past twenty years has focused on florals and landscapes. Her passion for nature and the human experience is the force underlying her work. We see in her paintings, simplicity and truth. She can capture both the delicate and the bold with ease.

Maureen's style is always fresh. Whether it's a Canadian snowfall, a budding apple blossom, or the brilliance of light on the Aegean Sea, vibrancy speaks. Never static, her work emits energy.

Maureen holds two degrees in psychology and the arts from Canadian Universities. She travels extensively to study art, and to experience differing cultures.

Her original paintings are exhibited in private and corporate collections in Canada, Chile, Mexico, the United States and Europe.

Pastel as a Painting Medium

Today, pastel paintings have the stature of oil and watercolour as a major fine art medium.

Edgar Degas was the most prolific user of pastel, and its champion. In the spring of 1983, Sotheby Parke Bernet sold at auction two Degas pastels for more than $3,000,000 each.

A particle of pastel pigment, seen under a microscope, looks like a diamond with many facets. Thus, pastel paintings reflect light like a prism, making them unique. Actually, pastel is considered the most permanent of all media. In fact, pastel paintings from the 16th century exist today, as fresh as the day they were painted.
